The organization, which is managed by Oksana Litvinova, was created 9 years ago, in 2014: "It all started with 25 dogs that were kept by our volunteers before the construction of the first enclosures. We got a place for a shelter in 2016, because the number of animals was growing and it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep them at home."
The most difficult thing in the work of the shelter is
Volunteering and saving people.
All co-founders of the organization have official jobs that are completely unrelated to animals. And at the same time, it is very difficult to take care of such a large number of animals. Therefore, all time after work, as well as weekends, are completely devoted to the shelter, accordingly, volunteers "burn out" and get exhausted very quickly. There is a catastrophic shortage of people.
What motivates
A sense of responsibility. We are responsible for those who were rescued, for those who are used to living in a shelter and will no longer be able to survive on the street.
Monthly expenses of the shelter for keeping animals
Average static costs: 150,000 - 200,000 UAH per month.
We calculated the average cost of keeping an animal in a shelter, which includes feeding, handling, utilities, basic treatment and employee wages. This is approximately 500-600 hryvnias per month, depending on the size of the animal.
What does the shelter dream about
About the empty, open enclosures in the shelter: "So that all the animals found good families, and the girls and I sat in a cafe on the day off dressed nicely and drank coffee."
