Lyudmila created the shelter "House where love lives" in the early 2000s, the shelter has been running for 22 years now: "When I had more than 20 animals at home, I realized that I could no longer keep them in the house. I took one loan for 30,000 hryvnias. Found an area with a "birdhouse" for animals. Found a worker. And she began to cook fences and aviaries. Then there was another loan, already for 40,000 hryvnias. Because the previous one was enough only for materials. That's how the shelter was created."
- The most difficult thing in the work of the shelter is
The time when winter or scorching summer comes. I am very worried that the animals in the shelter are cold, the water freezes, or vice versa - the heat and the animals overheat. And ticks and fleas. It is difficult to fight with them.
As the head of an animal protection organization, I feel responsible for the animals of the area. Therefore, when we started hostilities, I helped all animals in need, I also constantly monitor the sterilization of homeless and domestic animals, so that there are fewer abandoned animals in the shelter.
- Monthly expenses of the shelter for keeping animals
The average monthly cost of keeping animals is 120,000 hryvnias.
Rent of the premises 4000 hryvnias. The salary of two workers for 6,000 hryvnias is 12,000 hryvnias per month. The cost of fodder is about 30,000 hryvnias. Fuel costs about 40,000 hryvnias — trips to the shelter are 65 km, as well as trips to doctors, for sterilization or placement of animals with families. The most expensive article is treatment. I try to treat myself at home, but if they end up in a clinic, it costs about 50,000 hryvnias per month.
