The "Bim" shelter was established 9 years ago, but it all started with the overstaying of homeless animals at home. "So from 15 animals in a small area behind the parking lot, we turned into a large shelter," recalls the founder of the shelter, Kateryna Dorosh.
- The most difficult thing in the work of the shelter is
Work with people. Unfortunately, our public still does not fully understand what shelters are and what they are needed for, that it is not a reception point for domestic kittens and puppies, but help for homeless animals. But the popularization of sterilizations is already bearing fruit.
- What motivates
The happy faces of the animals that meet you when you come to the shelter :) Then you realize that everything you do is for such moments.
- Monthly expenses of the shelter for keeping animals
Average static costs: 400,000 UAH per month.
This includes: 3000 kg of dry dog food and 70 kg of cat food. The cost of medicines depends on the diseases. So we can buy medicine for UAH 3,000 a month, or we can buy it for UAH 15,000. Treatment in clinics also costs an average of 30,000 to 60,000 UAH per month. Salary for 5 workers 7000 hryvnias — 35 000 hryvnias. Construction works — UAH 40,000 (if we can raise the funds). Fuel from 20,000 hryvnias.
- What does the shelter dream about
Like any animal rights activist, so that there are no homeless animals and the owners are fully responsible for their pets.
