Could we have imagined 10 years ago that a small initiative would turn into the most powerful all-Ukrainian tradition? Today, Happy Meow for Murchyk is not just a campaign of the Bioethics Project, it is a decade of sincere love, education of humanity, and real deeds.
For 10 years in a row, we have been proving that the culture of caring for animals begins in childhood. We have become the largest shelter assistance project in Ukraine uniting thousands of teachers, parents, students, and kindergarten students for one goal – so that no animal is hungry or abandoned.
Inspiring Scale of Work
When we look at the map of Ukraine, where every light is a participating institution, the scale is simply breathtaking. From small villages to huge metropolises – we have created a single network of good that has no borders. This is the largest movement in the country, where every participant, regardless of their contribution, becomes part of a huge rescue mechanism.
Our Pride is the Results for over 10 Years:
- Total involved: over 2,000 educational institutions
- Together collected: 238,673 kg and 868,908 UAH of aid for local shelters and volunteers;
- Tens of thousands of lives saved and happy “meows” and Woofs” across the country.
This is the path we walk together. From a small package with cereal to huge trucks with food and medicine. However, the most important thing is the thousands of children who have grown up with the understanding that being kind is natural.
Why is This Important?
We can see how the attitude towards helping has changed over the years. This is no longer just a “one-time action”, but a conscious choice of thousands of Ukrainians. By teaching children compassion for animals, we are laying the foundation of a society where kindness towards every living creature reigns. Each collected pack of food is a lesson of responsibility that children will carry throughout their lives. We feel these changes: today helping animals has become “cool”, it unites classes, families and entire cities.
Transparency and Trust: Path from Heart to Paws
It is of great importance to us that the help is as quick and sincere as possible. As organizers, we do not raise funds – instead, we create a bridge between you and those who need support. Participants of the campaign independently deliver the collected packages directly to shelters and volunteers in their region. This allows you to avoid complex logistics and unnecessary expectations: your care falls directly into the paws of our tailed friends exactly when it is needed most. Such trust and direct interaction make our community even stronger.
Educating through Kindness: International Kindness Activities
Our campaign always runs side by side with the International Kindness Activity. This is a unique project for Ukraine and the largest event on humane upbringing of preschool children. The most important thing is that everyone is involved in the good cause: from little ones in kindergartens, who are just learning to take care of the world, to energetic schoolchildren and conscious students. While children are discovering the rules of responsible treatment of animals in the classes, the entire large student family collects the necessary help. This is a holistic system where knowledge is combined with real actions forming a new generation of Ukrainians with open and kind hearts.

We sincerely admire how actively our participants share their good deeds on social networks. This is extremely important, because each of your posts, photos or stories is not a boast, but a powerful promotion of humane treatment of animals. You inspire others, set an example and become true ambassadors of kindness, scaling our movement to the entire country.

Education and Gifts: How We Thank the Heroes
Each educational institution that has joined the campaign receives an electronic Thank You Note from our Foundation – a symbol of your contribution to a great cause. In addition, for over 5 years now, together with our partner Purina, we have been preparing special surprises. The most active participants receive unique original board games and puzzles developed by the Happy Paw team. These games are entirely dedicated to animals and help children learn even more about our four-legged friends in an easy and playful way.

For shelters that often work at the limit of their capabilities, this campaign is a real breath of fresh air. It’s not just about food or medicine, it’s about the feeling that they are not alone.
